Housefull 5 marks the return of Bollywood's beloved comedy franchise with an explosive mix of madness, mystery, and masala. Directed by Tarun Mansukhani, the film sets sail on a luxury cruise ship where a billionaire’s sudden death sparks a chaotic whodunit. What follows is a madcap rollercoaster packed with slapstick humour, over-the-top scenarios, and comic misadventures, true to the spirit of the franchise. The unique twist this time? Multiple versions of the climax — with different killers revealed in different screenings — a novelty that keeps the audience guessing till the end.

 

Mansukhani brings fresh energy to the franchise while retaining its core charm. The screenplay is peppered with witty one-liners, absurd plot turns, and cleverly choreographed gags. Though the film demands viewers to leave logic at the door, it rewards them with relentless entertainment. However, the second half could’ve been tighter, with a few forced jokes and underutilized supporting characters slowing down the momentum.

 

Akshay Kumar once again proves why he is the heart of the Housefull universe, delivering a knockout performance with effortless comic timing. Riteish Deshmukh is rock-solid as always, while Abhishek Bachchan surprises with a performance that fits right into the franchise’s chaotic world. Sanjay Dutt and Jackie Shroff play police officers investigating the murder, adding both gravitas and humour to the mix. The supporting ensemble—featuring names like Fardeen Khan, Nana Patekar, Johny Lever, Chunky Pandey, and a nostalgic appearance by Ranjeet—adds to the film’s crowd-pleasing appeal.

 

While the leading ladies (Jacqueline Fernandez, Nargis Fakhri, Chitrangada Singh, and others) don’t have much to do in terms of plot, they contribute to the visual glamour and overall fun. The film’s music amps up the energy, with tracks like Laal Pari and Dil-e-Nadaan standing out for their catchy beats and vibrant visuals.

 

At 165 minutes, Housefull 5 may test your patience if you're not a fan of loud, over-the-top comedy, but for the franchise’s loyal audience, it delivers exactly what it promises — a paisa-vasool entertainer full of laughter, confusion, and larger-than-life moments. If you're in the mood for mindless fun and a big-screen spectacle that doesn’t take itself seriously, this cruise is well worth boarding.
