Tarun Tahiliani Talks About Blenders Pride Fashion Week Tour

Renowned fashion designer Tarun Tahiliani recently shared his thoughts on the Blenders Pride Fashion Week Tour, reflecting on his long association with the iconic event. Speaking about his experiences, Tarun said, “I’ve done some amazing shows with Blenders Pride Fashion Show since 2005. I believe they have beautifully blended Indian and Western influences, embracing diverse elements like folk music and tribal dancers. The show stands for pushing fashion boundaries, trusting their designers, and making the impossible possible. If you look at the scale and design of the show, it all comes together to create magic.”

 

Tarun further elaborated on the meaning of fashion, emphasizing that it is not just about clothes but about self-expression. “Fashion, at its core, is about clothes, but it's more than that. It's an expression of your personality. You have to feel comfortable in what you wear, and it must reflect something of your identity. It’s not about projection; it’s about being an extension of who you are because you live your life in it,” he explained. He also touched on the concept of luxury, stating, “Luxury is what you feel on your skin. Today, with sustainability becoming a bigger focus, people are buying less but more beautiful things that they cherish and use. The whole idea of fashion has evolved.”

 

Reflecting on the growth of India as a country, he noted, “India has changed dramatically over the years. People are more confident now, and we are defining a new fashion era in the country. We have a rich textile tradition, and in the last 30-40 years, fashion in India has undergone a remarkable transformation.” Tarun Tahiliani’s insights truly reflect the dynamism and evolution of fashion in India, especially in the context of blending cultural heritage with contemporary trends.
