New Delhi, July 7 (SocialNews.XYZ) Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Tuesday instructed schools to involve guest and contractual teachers in the implementation of the new teaching-learning plan.

In a statement, Sisodia said, "It has come to my notice that despite very clear instructions issued on July 2, many schools are not involving guest and contractual teachers in the implementation of the new teaching-learning plan."

Sisodia, who's also the Education Minister of Delhi, requested the heads of schools to "call all such teachers who had rendered their service before the summer vacation in May 2020 and continue taking their service in teaching-learning or any other functions assigned to the school."

On July 2, the teaching-learning initiative was announced in the wake of the closure of schools till July 31. The Directorate of Education devised an alternate plan to reduce the academic loss of students in Classes KG to XII of all government and aided schools of Delhi.

Sisodia said the plan will not be effective unless all the teachers, who have had a direct role in taking classes with children in the pre-lockdown phase, are involved once again.

"The new plan is not just about sending some worksheets or having online classes. Instead, it is a comprehensive effort to stay connected with every child through regular follow up, to know what they are doing, support their learning at home and extend help that they might require," he added.

The Education Minister said that it is only possible when all the teachers take individual responsibility for a certain number of children. "Therefore, all teachers must be engaged to ensure that all children of their class participate in the teaching-learning activities," Sisodia said.

On Monday, Sisodia had congratulated the teachers and the parents on the successful launch of the remote teaching-learning initiative.

The Deputy Chief Minister also said that during this pandemic, a huge number of students and their parents have shown great interest in online learning.

"This has raised the confidence of the teachers who are working hard to reach out to every child," said Sisodia.
