Bhubaneswar, Aug 21 (IANS) At least 10 persons were killed and two others injured after a head-on collision between a passenger vehicle and a truck in Odisha's Sambalpur district on Monday, police said.
The incident occurred on NH-55 near Bhawanipali when a group of devotees were returning from Kalpeshwar Temple in Hatibari in a Tata Magic passenger vehicle, said police.
The injured have been admitted at Burla's V.S.S.Medical College and Hospital in Sambalpur.
While four persons had died on the spot, others succumbed to injuries during treatment at hospital, said police.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each for the kin of the deceased and free treatment to the injured persons.
