Jacqueline Fernandez on Hai Junoon!: “It Felt Risky, and That’s What I Liked About It”

The world of Indian television is set to welcome an ambitious new musical drama with Hai Junoon! Dream. Dare. Dominate. Premiering on May 16, 2025, exclusively on JioHotstar, the series stars Neil Nitin Mukesh and Jacqueline Fernandez in leading roles. Directed by Abhishek Sharma and produced under the Jio Creative Lab banner, the show promises a blend of music, dance, and high-stakes personal transformation.

 

At the trailer launch, Jacqueline Fernandez opened up about why she chose to be part of this project, calling it one of the most inspiring experiences of her career."The talent on this show blew me away," Fernandez said. "They inspired me every single day on set. Everyone was so hardworking—our wonderful director, the cast, the crew. We’d shoot long, long hours, and afterward, the dancers would go right back into rehearsals.  After 16 hours of shooting, they were still smiling. That kind of energy—it’s contagious. It keeps pushing you, makes you grow, makes you better."

 

Reflecting on what drew her to the role, Jacqueline highlighted the show’s unique mix of performance and storytelling. "Firstly, I loved that it infused dance, singing, and music—that was a big draw for me. I loved the team, the casting, and especially the storyline. My character was created and written so beautifully. She’s flawed, nothing in her life is really working out, and she’s constantly failing, learning, and growing in front of everyone. That vulnerability, that journey—I really wanted to sink my teeth into it."

 

The show marks Fernandez’s second collaboration with director Abhishek Sharma, which she sees as a big plus. "He always wants the best for us. I was directed by the best and motivated by the best. This project felt risky, and that’s exactly what I liked about it. It’s as real as it gets."
