Boman Irani on Hai Junoon!: “This Isn’t Just a Show, It’s a Passion Project”

Veteran actor Boman Irani, who plays Professor Iyer in the upcoming musical drama Hai Junoon! Dream. Dare. Dominate., spoke passionately at the trailer launch about why he joined the project—despite having a small role. The series premieres on May 16, 2025, on JioHotstar and features an ensemble cast led by Neil Nitin Mukesh and Jacqueline Fernandez. Directed by Abhishek Sharma and produced by Jio Creative Lab, the show is a bold fusion of music, dance, and drama, spanning 20 episodes.

 

 “I play a small part in this very big show,” Irani shared. “And the reason I said yes is because this is the youngest cast I’ve ever worked with. It feels so wonderful to see talent all around you—just popping out of the woodwork. And it’s not just acting talent. They all look fantastic, and they’re performing, singing, and dancing. There’s a whole bunch of brilliant musicians and lyricists involved. It's a big talent.”

 

Irani didn’t hold back his admiration for the creative minds behind the series.“Abhishek, thank you for having me. And Aditya and Sagar—these two guys are ridiculous human beings,” he said with a laugh. “You just think about something, and the next thing you know, they’ve made the call. You’ve put together this 20-episode show with a wonderful cast, musicians, lyricists—I couldn’t be prouder to be part of something like this.”

 

For the '3 Idiots' actor , what sealed the deal wasn’t just the scale or talent, but the heart behind the project.“I like to work with people who are like-minded, who believe in art, and in the hard work that goes beyond the art. Otherwise, I’m not interested. I’m not interested in just putting a project together for the sake of it. This show is something else—it’s driven by passion and vision. The story, the people, the music—it’s all come together beautifully. And yes, music is back in a big way through this show.”
