Farhan Akhtar, Shibani Dandekar, and Zoya Akhtar Attend Nirmal Kapoor’s Final Rites

As the film fraternity gathered to mourn the passing of Nirmal Kapoor, mother of actors Anil Kapoor and Boney Kapoor, several prominent figures came forward to offer their support. Among them were actor-director Farhan Akhtar, his wife and artist Shibani Dandekar, and his sister, renowned filmmaker Zoya Akhtar.

 

The trio was seen arriving at the funeral held at Pawan Hans Crematorium in Mumbai on May 3, 2025, where the Kapoor family performed the final rites for their beloved matriarch. Nirmal Kapoor passed away on May 2 at the age of 90, following prolonged age-related health complications.

 

Farhan, Shibani, and Zoya paid their respects and stood in solidarity with the grieving Kapoor family. Their presence was a reminder of the deep bonds that tie the Indian film industry together—not just as colleagues, but as extended family that stands united in times of sorrow.

 

Nirmal Kapoor, remembered for her strength and quiet grace, was the cornerstone of one of Bollywood’s most iconic families. Her final journey was witnessed by several well-known names, including Rani Mukerji, Ayan Mukerji, Darshan Kumar, and Jackie Shroff—who stood closely by his longtime friend Anil Kapoor throughout the ceremony.

 

The turnout at the funeral was a reflection of the love and respect Nirmal Kapoor inspired across generations. As Anil and Boney Kapoor bid farewell to their mother, the presence of friends like the Akhtars offered comfort in grief, and strength in solidarity.
