Neon Unveils Trailer for Mike Flanagan’s The Life of Chuck, Starring Tom Hiddleston and Chiwetel Ejiofor

Neon has officially released the haunting and thought-provoking trailer for The Life of Chuck, a genre-bending new film written and directed by Mike Flanagan. Adapted from Stephen King's novella in the If It Bleeds collection, the film presents a deeply human, emotional tale told in reverse — beginning with death and ending in childhood. The movie stars Tom Hiddleston as the mysterious Charles Krantz and Chiwetel Ejiofor as Marty, a man who becomes inexplicably haunted by Chuck’s ever-growing presence in his life.

 

The surreal mystery kicks off when Marty begins seeing Chuck’s face everywhere — billboards, news reports, even on his television. As the world around him begins to unravel, so does Chuck’s life story, gradually revealed through the people who knew him, including Marty’s ex-wife, her co-worker, his own neighbor, and others. What makes this ordinary accountant worthy of such an extraordinary sendoff becomes the emotional core of the film. Karen Gillan, Annalise Basso, Benjamin Pajak, and Carl Lumbly add further depth to this intricate tale.

 

The film’s heart lies in Chuck’s formative years, where we meet his eccentric grandfather Albie, played by Mark Hamill. Through Albie, Chuck learns about accounting, disco dancing, and ultimately discovers a dark family secret tucked away in the attic. As Flanagan is known for blending supernatural themes with grounded emotional storytelling (The Haunting of Hill House, Doctor Sleep), The Life of Chuck appears to be another poignant exploration of life, death, and memory.

 

With a cast that also includes Matthew Lillard, Mia Sara, Jacob Tremblay, Kate Siegel, Harvey Guillén, and Samantha Sloyan, the film is poised to be one of the most unique King adaptations to date. The Life of Chuck is slated for release on June 6, 2025, and promises a moving, mind-bending meditation on what it means to truly live — and how we’re remembered after we're gone.
