MP: Five killed, two injured in Narmadapuram road accident

Narmadapuram, June 15 (SocialNews.XYZ) Five people, including a school teacher, his wife and their eight-year-old son, were killed and two others seriously injured after a Bolero vehicle overturned on the Matkuli-Pipariya road in Madhya Pradesh’s Narmadapuram district on Monday evening, police said.

The accident occurred near Matkuli when the vehicle, carrying seven occupants, lost control and overturned by the roadside. Local residents and police rushed to the spot after receiving information about the incident and launched rescue efforts.

The deceased were identified as Pradeep Dhurve (48), his wife Jyoti Dhurve and their son Akshat Dhurve (8), all residents of Banjara Dream in Narmadapuram. The other victims were Pancham Thakur (55), a resident of Samnapur, and Kuldeep Thakur (40), a resident of Jhirpa Karer.

The injured, Akash Dhurve (25) and Sharad Uike (21), both residents of Samnapur, were admitted to a nearby hospital, where they are undergoing treatment.

According to police, the group was returning from Tamia in Chhindwara district when the accident took place. Pradeep Dhurve was posted as a teacher at Semri Primary School.

Sharad Dhurve, one of the survivors, told police that Pradeep, his wife Jyoti and their son Akshat were among those killed in the crash. The group had travelled to Tamia in a friend’s Bolero and was returning home when the accident occurred.

Pipariya Police Station in-charge Madanlal Pawar said preliminary investigation suggests the driver lost control while trying to avoid a motorcycle coming from the opposite direction.

He explained that the Bolero was travelling from Tamia towards Matkuli, and that the driver apparently tried to avoid a motorcyclist approaching from the opposite side, after which the vehicle went out of control and overturned.

Police said excessive speed may also have played a role in the accident. Investigators are verifying all circumstances surrounding the crash. Pawar added that a case has been registered and the exact cause of the accident is under investigation, with statements from witnesses and survivors being recorded.

Police have completed inquest proceedings and sent the bodies for post-mortem examination. Further investigation is underway.
