Patna, June 2 (SocialNews.XYZ) In a significant success for law enforcement agencies, Patna Police have dismantled a criminal network operating in the state capital by arresting eight members of the notorious Daya Dubey gang, including its alleged kingpin, Daya Dubey.
The operation was carried out as part of an intensified campaign against organised crime in the region.
During the crackdown, police recovered a country-made pistol (Katta), another improvised firearm, 10 live cartridges, and five mobile phones from the possession of the accused.
According to City SP (West) Bhanu Pratap Singh, the operation stemmed from a complaint lodged on May 22 regarding an alleged assault and firing incident in the Bihta police station area. The complaint named Daya Dubey and his associates, alleging that they had threatened the victim’s life during the attack.
Considering the seriousness of the allegations, Bihta Police registered an FIR and launched an investigation. On the instructions of the City Superintendent of Police (West), a special team was constituted to identify and apprehend those involved.
Police said they used a combination of technical surveillance and human intelligence to track the accused, leading to a series of coordinated raids.
During the initial phase of the operation, police arrested four active gang members identified as Aditya Kumar, Sachin Kumar, Rajat Kumar, and Vishal Kumar. Weapons allegedly linked to the gang were also recovered during these arrests.
Subsequently, acting on specific intelligence inputs received on June 1, police apprehended the alleged gang leader, Daya Dubey, along with his associate Abhishek Kumar, also known as Abhi.
Further interrogation of the accused led investigators to two additional suspects, Om Singh and Shivam Kumar, who were also taken into custody.
“The arrested individuals have extensive criminal backgrounds and are allegedly involved in a range of serious offences. Cases related to murder, extortion, robbery, violations of the Arms Act, and other criminal activities have been registered against them at various police stations,” Singh said.
Investigators are currently examining their involvement in additional cases and verifying details of their criminal records.
