“They took my songs, my IP, my future,” Bhagnani declared during the interaction, adding that the issue was never about money but about ethics and ownership. The veteran producer repeatedly claimed that while music labels may own audio rights, the visual rights of the songs and scenes still belong to the producer. He alleged that iconic material associated with his films was reused without his consent, calling it a betrayal by people he once considered family.
Bhagnani became visibly emotional while speaking about his strained relationships within the industry. He revealed that he felt “heartbroken” over the situation, especially because of his long-standing bond with David Dhawan and the Taurani family. “I would give my life for David Ji,” he said, before adding that nobody from the other side had contacted him even after the controversy escalated publicly. According to Bhagnani, he is still open to resolving the matter outside court if his rights are acknowledged.
The producer also took indirect digs at Varun Dhawan, revealing that the actor had not contacted him in years despite their professional history. Bhagnani claimed that relationships in Bollywood often disappear when someone faces financial or legal struggles. “Nobody came to my house. Nobody called. I was alone,” he said, in one of the most talked-about moments from the press meet.
Apart from his personal battle, Bhagnani used the platform to demand an industry-wide reform regarding royalty distribution. He argued that producers, writers, directors, and actors should all receive a share of long-term earnings from films and songs instead of music companies controlling most of the revenue. Calling the current system unfair, he urged the industry to create a transparent framework that protects producers from losing their intellectual property.
The dramatic press conference has now triggered intense debate across Bollywood circles, with many wondering whether this legal and ethical battle could reshape how film rights and royalties are handled in the future.
