Rajpal Yadav addressed the recent public joke made by journalist Saurabh Dwivedi during the Chetak Screen Awards 2026, where Dwivedi referenced his Rs 9 crore debt and cheque bounce case in a skit alongside comedian Zakir Khan. In a video posted on social media, Rajpal clarified the context and urged fans to understand the intent behind the sketch.

 

In the ~99-second clip, Rajpal said, "Recently I attended the Screen Awards, there I got to meet the entire industry, it was whole lot of fun with song, dance and skids, it was great fun, a whole of gag skids were going on, Saurabh, Zakir and me, talked about world, youth and dollars, economy, and this effects the common man, cheque bounce, aim was to make a general skid about everyone, as we sometimes try to do in cinema, and we did it, but it didn’t reach the audience the way it was meant to, so this cinema. Saurabh and Zakir are like my younger brothers, they have always respected me, they both are my hearts."

 

Rajpal emphasized the close bond he shares with Dwivedi and Zakir, calling them his “younger brothers” and praising their respect for artists. He also appealed to fans not to criticize or troll the duo, stating that any harm done to Saurabh or Zakir would affect him personally. His message aimed to calm tensions and clarify that the skit was meant as light-hearted humor, not a personal attack.
