Rishab Shetty Seeks Blessings in Mumbai as Kantara: Chapter 1 Roars at the Box Office

Fresh off a special celebrity screening in Mumbai, Rishab Shetty—the actor, writer, and director behind Kantara: Chapter 1—was spotted visiting two of Mumbai’s most revered temples. First, he paid a visit to the Mahalaxmi Temple, and later, he offered prayers at the Siddhivinayak Temple, seeking blessings for the continued success of his already blockbuster hit.

 

Dressed in traditional attire and visibly humbled by the film’s reception, Rishab posed graciously for media and fans outside both temples. His spiritual visits reflect not just gratitude but the deep-rooted cultural and mythological essence that Kantara is known for.

 

Kantara: Chapter 1, produced by Vijay Kiragandur and Chaluve Gowda under Hombale Films, is both a prequel and an expansion of the world introduced in the 2022 surprise hit Kantara. The latest chapter stars Rishab Shetty, alongside Jayaram, Rukmini Vasanth, and Gulshan Devaiah, diving deeper into the origins of the Bhuta Kola ritual and the ancestral conflicts central to the saga.

 

Set in pre-colonial coastal Karnataka, the film fuses regional folklore, mysticism, and raw action to explore the timeless struggle between man, nature, and the divine. It has not only impressed critics and audiences alike but has also made history at the box office—becoming the second-highest grossing Kannada film of all time, the highest of 2025 in its language, and currently ranks as the fourth-highest grossing Indian film of the year.
