Jaipur, June 26 (SocialNews.XYZ) Rashtriya Loktantrik Party (RLP) President and Nagaur MP Hanuman Beniwal on Friday questioned the Rajasthan government over the investigation into the recovery of Rs 2.31 crore in cash and nearly one kg of gold from the basement of Yojana Bhawan near the State Secretariat in Jaipur during the tenure of the previous Ashok Gehlot-led state government.
Addressing the issue through a press statement, Beniwal said the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), while in the Opposition, had strongly criticised the incident and described it as a major symbol of corruption.
He alleged that after forming the government in Rajasthan, the BJP had remained silent on the matter.
The RLP leader asked why the issue, which had figured prominently in the BJP's criticism of the previous Congress government, had not seen further public action after the change of government in the state.
He asked whether the investigation had reached a conclusion and sought details about the ownership of the recovered cash and gold.
Beniwal also raised questions regarding the identities of those allegedly involved in the case and asked why the state government had not publicly shared the outcome of the investigation.
He questioned whether the silence was intended to shield certain individuals.
"The people of Rajasthan have a right to know the truth," Beniwal said, urging the Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma to publicly clarify the status of the investigation and disclose the findings related to the case.
The Yojana Bhawan cash recovery case had triggered a political controversy when the cash and gold were recovered during the previous Congress government's tenure, with opposition parties demanding a thorough probe.
Beniwal reiterated that the state government should place the facts before the people and ensure transparency in the matter.
