Mumbai, June 23 (SocialNews.XYZ) The political temperature in the Maharashtra Assembly Monsoon Session on Tuesday spiked dramatically, with Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray launching a multi-front attack against Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.
The clash comes amid a major political crisis for the UBT faction, with reports that six out of its nine Lok Sabha MPs are preparing to cross over to the Shinde-led Shiv Sena.
During the legislative proceedings, Aaditya Thackeray aggressively targeted DCM Shinde on the Assembly floor over how the Deputy CM handles his ministerial portfolios.
Aaditya accused Shinde of intentionally avoiding opposition questions in the House by shifting responsibility for answering questions in his designated departments to other ministers.
Labelling him “Fake-nath Mindhe” outside the hall, Aaditya claimed DCM Shinde was “scared to answer” and chose to run away rather than face accountability.
He even mimicked Shinde’s speaking style to drive the point home.
When the opposition staged a walkout over the issue, Assembly Speaker Rahul Narwekar pointed out that similar arrangements had occurred in 2019–2020.
Aaditya sharply countered this, stating that no Chief Minister or Minister had used such “escape routes” during the MVA tenure.
Shinde did not hold back in his rebuttal on the House floor, turning the tables on Aaditya’s sharp rhetoric.
He quoted a popular Marathi song to mock Aaditya’s political descent, saying, “Who were you, and what have you become... Oh, madman, you have completely gone to waste.”
Shinde also took a swipe at senior opposition leaders like Jayant Patil, mockingly questioning why veteran politicians were blindly following the directions of “kids” (pora-tora), referring to Aaditya’s leadership during the floor strategy.
Compounding the bitterness in the Assembly is the active rebellion breaking out across the UBT camp. Six UBT Lok Sabha MPs skipped a crucial parliamentary party meeting in Delhi, signalling their intent to ally with Shinde’s ruling faction.
Aaditya took to X to deliver a scathing public statement against the defecting lawmakers. He accused them of “selling their loyalty and reputation shamelessly for greed.”
He emphasised that these MPs won their seats solely because voters actively chose the MVA/INDIA bloc platform against the NDA, calling their overnight defection an absolute betrayal of the public mandate.
