Agartala, June 23 (SocialNews.XYZ) Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Tuesday called upon party workers and leaders to move forward by following the principles and ideals of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and draw inspiration from the life and contributions of Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, whom he described as an extraordinary personality who dedicated his life to the service of the nation and its people.
“We have to work for the welfare of the people by following his principles and ideology,” Saha said after paying tributes to Mukherjee.
The Chief Minister was addressing a tribute programme organised at the state office of the BJP on the occasion of the martyrdom day of the patriot, renowned educationist, thinker, and founder of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh.
Speaking at the programme, Saha said both the Central Government and the Tripura government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, are working for holistic development and welfare by following the philosophy of Integral Humanism propounded by Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya.
He recalled that Mukherjee became Vice-Chancellor of Calcutta University at the age of 33, the youngest person ever to hold that position.
“The BJP is a family, and if we move forward keeping in mind the ideals of those who inspired this family, a positive and constructive environment will be created. Our Prime Minister speaks about building a New India, and every state has a role to play in achieving that vision. Tripura is also progressing steadily towards the goal of Viksit Bharat 2047,” he said.
Saha added that although Mukherjee was born into a respected family, he remained deeply connected to ordinary people and always worked for their welfare.
“He lived like a common man despite his distinguished background and made the ultimate sacrifice for the country. Many individuals joined the BJP after being inspired by the ideology and vision of Mukherjee, Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya, and PM Modi. As a result, the BJP today governs in nearly 21 states across the country,” he said.
He further stressed the importance of discussing and highlighting the developmental initiatives undertaken by the Narendra Modi-led government at the Centre and by the state government in Tripura.
“The BJP has a strong policy framework and a clear ideological foundation. We must continue our journey guided by those principles and ideals. Only then will the sacrifice of Mukherjee be truly honoured. He taught us that the nation comes first, followed by the party and then the individual,” the Chief Minister said.
The programme was attended by BJP state President Abhishek Debroy, former State President and Rajya Sabha MP Rajib Bhattacharjee, BJP North East Coordinator and MP Sambit Patra, Assam-Tripura Organisation General Secretary Ravindra Raju, Tripura Pradesh BJP In-charge Rajdeep Roy, members of the state cabinet, public representatives, and senior party leaders.
