ANTF launches four simultaneous crackdowns on drug networks in Rajasthan; five arrested

Jaipur, June 19 (SocialNews.XYZ) In a major statewide anti-narcotics operation, the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) on Friday carried out four coordinated raids across Rajasthan's Jalore, Beawar and Jaipur, dismantling multiple drug trafficking networks and arresting five alleged drug peddlers.

The operations, conducted under the guidance of Rajasthan Director General of Police (DGP) Rajiv Kumar Sharma, led to the seizure of large quantities of opium, smack (heroin), and cannabis, along with cash believed to be proceeds of the narcotics trade.

 

A scooter allegedly used for drug delivery was also confiscated.

According to ANTF Inspector General of Police (IGP) Vikas Kumar, the multi-pronged crackdown was launched based on specific intelligence inputs and executed in coordination with local police units.

In the first operation, ANTF teams, along with Bhinmal police, raided a residence in Jeran village under the Bhinmal police station area of Jalore district after receiving information that narcotics were being sold from the premises.

During the search, police officers recovered 938 grams of illicit opium allegedly concealed inside kitchen of the house.

The accused, identified as 48-year-old Jutharam Devasi, was taken into custody and the contraband seized.

In Beawar, ANTF officials acted on intelligence that narcotics were being supplied on a scooter near Kanchan Petrol Pump.

A surveillance team laid a trap and intercepted a man and woman matching the description provided by informants.

A search of the scooter's storage compartment allegedly led to the recovery of 24.88 gm of smack.

The accused, Deepak Kumar (45) and his wife Lakshmi Devi (43), residents of Sansi Basti in Chhawani in Beawar city of Ajmer district were arrested.

Police also seized the scooter used in the operation.

In a third operation in Jaipur Rural's Shivdaspura area, ANTF and local police teams raided slums located behind Purnima College after receiving information about a woman allegedly carrying narcotics.

The suspect attempted to flee when police arrived but was apprehended with the assistance of female Constables.

Officers recovered 335 gm of cannabis, 0.71 gm of smack, and Rs 21,500 in cash allegedly generated from drug sales.

The accused was identified as Sharbat Devi (55), a resident of Tonk district.

The fourth operation was conducted in Jayashankar Colony on New Sanganer Road under the Narayan Vihar police station area of Jaipur city.

Police said a woman standing suspiciously in the locality attempted to escape after spotting the police team. She was intercepted and searched, leading to the recovery of 142 gm of cannabis and Rs 2,000 in cash.

The accused, identified as Lali Devi (32), was taken into custody and the narcotics were seized.

IGP Vikas Kumar described the four-pronged operation as a major success in the state's ongoing campaign against drug trafficking. He commended the efforts of ANTF personnel and police teams from Bhinmal, Beawar City, Shivdaspura, and Narayan Vihar for their coordinated action.

He also announced that police officers and personnel involved in the operations would be felicitated at a special function at ANTF headquarters.

Appealing for public cooperation, the ANTF urged citizens to report any information related to narcotics trafficking or other criminal activities.

Officials said information can be shared through the ANTF control room at 0141-2502877 or via WhatsApp at 9261225056.

The agency assured that the identity of informants would be kept strictly confidential.
