Assam govt constitutes 13 committees to oversee preparation for Japan PM's visit

Guwahati, June 16 (SocialNews.XYZ) The Assam government has entrusted a group of ministers with venue-specific responsibilities and constituted 13 committees to ensure smooth arrangements for the proposed visit of Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi to the State on July 1, officials said on Tuesday.

According to a notification issued by the Political Department, ministers have been assigned as in-charge of key venues and stretches in Guwahati and adjoining areas, with senior IAS and IPS officers designated to assist them.

 

Transport Minister Charan Boro has been made responsible for arrangements at the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International (LGBI) Airport. Cultural Affairs Minister Bimal Borah and Agriculture Minister Pijush Hazarika will jointly oversee the four-kilometre cultural corridor from the airport to Dharapur. Health and Family Welfare Minister Ashok Singhal has been tasked with monitoring road cleanliness and beautification from the airport to Hotel Taj Vivanta.

Pijush Hazarika has also been assigned responsibility for the stretch from Hotel Taj Vivanta to Gateway of Guwahati and Lok Bhawan. Fishery Minister Nilima Devi will supervise arrangements at Radisson Blu Hotel, while Finance Minister Ajanta Neog’s portfolio colleague Jayanta Malla Baruah has been entrusted with Hotel Taj Vivanta. Public Health Engineering Minister Krishnendu Paul has been given charge of Hotel Mayfair, while Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Biswajit Daimary has been assigned responsibility for State Guest House at Koinadhara in the city.

Tourism Minister Ajanta Neog will oversee the cruise and Gateway of Guwahati area, including beautification and illumination of riverbanks and important landmarks. DoHUA Minister Kaushik Rai has been assigned the Brahmaputra Heritage Centre, while Excise Minister Atul Bora will supervise arrangements at Lok Bhawan. Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Ashok Singhal’s cabinet colleague, Ashwini Ray Sarkar, has been entrusted with the Maa Kamakhya Temple.

The government has also constituted 13 committees covering airport reception, accommodation, security, traffic management, cultural programmes, protocol, sanitation, power supply, health services and other logistical arrangements. Senior bureaucrats and police officers have been nominated as venue in-charges and committee members to coordinate preparations for the high-profile visit.

The State administration has directed all departments to work in close coordination to ensure the successful conduct of the visit.
