Punjab BJP seeks CM Mann’s resignation for declaring ‘anti-Khalsa Panth’

Chandigarh, June 15 (SocialNews.XYZ) Punjab Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Kewal Singh Dhillon on Monday demanded the resignation of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann after the Akal Takht declared him “Guru Dokhi” and “anti-Khalsa Panth” over an objectionable video showing liquor being sprinkled on an image of the Guru Sahibs.

An order has also been issued directing Sikhs of the Guru Khalsa Panth not to maintain any kind of association with him. The Akal Takht is the highest temporal authority of the Sikh community, and every directive issued by it is respected and accepted by the Guru Nanak “naam-leva sangat”.

Dhillon said in a statement that when “a person is declared Guru Dokhi and anti-Khalsa Panth by Sri Akal Takht Sahib, it carries serious social and moral consequences. In such circumstances, Sikh ministers and officials serving within the Punjab government may also find themselves in an uncomfortable position.”

He added that this situation could affect the government’s administrative functioning and decision-making processes, which are not in the interest of the border state of Punjab.

He further stated that, considering the seriousness of the matter, Chief Minister Mann should accept moral responsibility and resign from his office.

Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj declared Chief Minister Mann guilty over an objectionable video purportedly showing him in an act that hurt Sikh sentiments. All Sikh lawmakers of the state were also summoned to appear before the Akal Takht for hurting sentiments and the interest of the ‘panth’ (community) by passing the new sacrilege law.

The Chief Minister was declared guilty of “sprinkling alcohol on portraits of Sikh Gurus” as portrayed in the viral video that he said “is neither AI-generated nor doctored”.

The five Sikh high priests unanimously took the decision that was pronounced from the podium of the Akal Takht by High Priest Jathedar Gargaj, declaring Chief Minister Mann as “Guru Dokhi” (one who has betrayed or shown disloyalty to the Guru) and “Khalsa Panth Virodhi” (opposed to the Khalsa Panth).
