A shocking murder case in Begusarai has triggered panic and outrage after an Intermediate student was allegedly abducted and beaten to death in the Mufassil police station area, an official said on Thursday.

The deceased has been identified as Vikas Kumar, son of Ram Uday Yadav and a resident of Kankaul village.

According to family members, Vikas had left home on Wednesday, saying he was going to submit a scholarship application form, but did not return by evening.

The family later alleged that a local youth, Mohit Yadav, alias Karelal, had taken him away on a motorcycle.

Police investigations indicate that Mohit Yadav and another accused, Vikas Yadav, are suspected of abducting and murdering the student before dumping his body in the Diara region of Khagaria district.

A video purportedly showing the student being taken away on a motorcycle has surfaced and gone viral, intensifying public anger and fear in the locality.

Family members allege the crime stemmed from an old rivalry linked to social media.

According to them, a fake Facebook account had earlier been created in the name of the victim’s younger brother, through which objectionable content was circulated.

Following complaints, one of the accused was reportedly jailed earlier but had recently secured bail.

The family claims the murder was carried out as an act of revenge.

Following protests and mounting public pressure on Thursday, police launched an investigation under the supervision of the Sadar-1 DSP.

Two accused individuals have reportedly been detained for questioning.

Authorities are examining the viral video footage, digital evidence, mobile and social media links, and the sequence of events leading to the murder.

The incident has reignited concerns over rising crime, revenge violence, and social media-linked disputes in Bihar.

In a separate incident in Gopalganj, a woman was allegedly beaten to death with an iron rod after a minor dispute escalated into violence.

The incident occurred in Mahradeur village under the jurisdiction of the Bhore Police Station area.

According to an official, the clash began over the dumping of waste behind a house.

The disagreement soon turned violent between the two groups.

During the altercation, the woman was allegedly assaulted repeatedly with an iron rod.

She was rushed to a hospital in critical condition but was declared dead by doctors.

After news of the death spread, angry villagers and family members blocked the Bhore–Mirganj main road and staged protests demanding the immediate arrest of the accused and compensation for the victim’s family.

The blockade disrupted traffic for hours and created a tense atmosphere in the region.

Police officials, including the Hathua SDPO, reached the spot and attempted to calm protesters.

Additional security personnel have been deployed in the village, while raids are underway to arrest the accused involved in the killing.
