MP Lokayukta Police conduct twin operations; 2 officials caught red-handed accepting bribe

Bhopal/Seoni, May 13 (SocialNews.XYZ) The Lokayukta Police from Jabalpur have successfully executed two separate trap operations in the Seoni district of Madhya Pradesh to combat administrative corruption.

In the first significant action, a team caught Dinesh Raghuvanshi, an acting Assistant Sub-Inspector posted at the Kotwali Police Station in Seoni, red handed while he was accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000.

This decisive operation was carried out under the specific directives of Director General of Police Yogesh Deshmukh and the strategic guidance of Deputy Inspector General of Police Manoj Singh.

According to Anjulata Patle, the Superintendent of Police for the Jabalpur Lokayukta, the case originated from a complaint filed by Nandkishore Chaurasia, a resident of Chhitapar village.

Chaurasia had previously approached the Kotwali Police Station to report a fraud case involving his son, Abhishek Chaurasia, who had been cheated under the false pretense of securing a government job and a vehicle contract.

Acting Assistant Sub-Inspector Raghuvanshi was the assigned investigator for that fraud case when he allegedly demanded the illegal gratification to proceed with the matter.

In a second successful strike against corruption on the same Wednesday, the Lokayukta team apprehended Arun Kumar Kumre, an Assistant Grade three employee at the Block Development Officer office in Dhanora.

Kumre was caught red handed in the act of accepting a bribe amounting to Rs 10,000.

The investigation revealed that the complaint was filed by Devendra Kumar Sirsam, a peon at the Government Higher Secondary School in Sunwara.

Sirsam alleged that the clerk had demanded the money in exchange for processing and releasing his subsistence allowance for a fourteen month suspension period, which totalled approximately Rs 1,65,000.

Both operations demonstrate a coordinated effort by the Lokayukta unit to address grievances from citizens who are being exploited by officials within the police and development departments.

Following these arrests, the Lokayukta police have initiated further legal proceedings against both Raghuvanshi and Kumre under the relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
