IIFA and Telangana Announce Historic Multi-Year Partnership to Power Global Cultural Impact

IIFA and Telangana Announce Historic Multi-Year Partnership to Power Global Cultural Impact

In a landmark move for India’s cultural diplomacy, the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Weekend & Awards has announced a transformative multi-year partnership with the Government of Telangana. Unveiled at the Telangana Rising Global Summit 2025, this first-of-its-kind alliance positions Telangana as a major global cultural and creative powerhouse while strengthening India’s soft power through cinema on the world stage.

As part of this dual global strategy, Telangana will serve as the Official Partner State at IIFA Weekend & Awards 2026, giving the state unparalleled international visibility across IIFA’s broadcast footprint spanning over 120 countries and reaching more than 2.5 billion viewers worldwide. This initiative, themed “Taking Telangana to the World,” is expected to significantly boost tourism, global investments, and international engagement with the Indian diaspora.

Complementing this is the equally ambitious plan of “Bringing the World to Telangana.” Hyderabad will host IIFA Utsavam for three consecutive years from 2026 to 2028, celebrating South Indian cinema across Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam industries. The move firmly establishes Hyderabad as the cultural capital of South India and a fast-rising hub for film-led tourism, creative industries, and large-scale global events.

Hon’ble Chief Minister of Telangana, Sri A. Revanth Reddy, described the partnership as a defining milestone in India’s cultural and economic journey. Emphasizing Telangana’s vision to become a USD 1 trillion economy by 2034, he highlighted how cinema can act as a powerful bridge connecting global creators, investors, and innovators to the State. The partnership also aligns with flagship initiatives like Film in Telangana, youth skill development through TASK, and international cultural diplomacy.

Echoing this sentiment, IIFA Co-Founder Andre Timmins called the collaboration a historic platform that unites India’s creative industries while amplifying Telangana’s global identity. With IIFA’s 25-year legacy across world capitals and massive global influence, the partnership places Telangana among elite global destinations that leverage storytelling, cinema, and culture for international leadership. Together, IIFA and Telangana aim to create a lasting legacy where cinema, culture, and economic growth converge seamlessly.
