Yash Raj Films and Arjun Kapoor Celebrate 4 Years of Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar

Yash Raj Films (YRF) and actor Arjun Kapoor marked the four-year anniversary of Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar, sharing a special celebration poster on their Instagram stories. The black comedy-drama, directed by Dibakar Banerjee, was produced by YRF and released on March 19, 2021, after a year-long delay due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Originally scheduled for a 2020 release, the film finally hit the big screens and later streamed on Amazon Prime.

 

The film stars Parineeti Chopra and Arjun Kapoor in the lead roles, with their intense performances earning praise. Made on a budget of 20 crores, Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar grossed 58.125 lakhs globally, but unfortunately, it didn't perform well at the box office. Despite this, the film received mixed-to-positive reviews, with critics lauding the storyline, Chopra’s performance, Banerjee’s direction, and its sharp social commentary. However, it faced some criticism for its slow pacing.

 

At the 67th Filmfare Awards, the film garnered 10 nominations, including Best Film (Critics), Best Actress (Parineeti Chopra), and Best Supporting Actress (Neena Gupta). The film’s script also won the Best Dialogue award, a testament to the strong writing by Grover and Banerjee. Though it may not have been a box-office success, Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar continues to be a film remembered for its unique storytelling and impactful performances.
