I am feeling like making my debut all over again with ‘Paper’ says Rohit Bose Roy

Actor Rohit Bose Roy, who is stepping into digital zone with a web series titled ‘Paper’, has said that he is feeling like making his debut all over again with his upcoming project which is loosely based on life of Abdul Karim Telgi who earned money by printing counterfeit stamp paper in India.

Rohit Bose Roy was interacting with the media to promote ‘Paper’ on Wednesday in Mumbai.

'Paper' is produced by Vibhu Agarwal and co-produced by Falguni Shah’s Dreamzz Images Studio and directed by Deepak Pandey. Rohit will be seen playing role of Abdul Karim Telgi in the series and it also features Kate Sharma who plays the role of Abdul’s lady love and Parag Tyagi will be seen playing the role of a police officer.

Sharing his experience while working in the show, Roy said, “The makers narrated me the one liner of the project and I really like it, so I instantly said yes to it. The thought process behind the show is extremely exciting. I would say that I had a very pleasant experience working on ‘Paper’. I am feeling very excited for this show and I am feeling that I am making my debut all over again. If I fail at this then I know that I would not get the opportunity to play such characters. I have always played roles of a good looking man or a businessman in my career, so I wanted to break that image and I always wanted to play a rooted character. Now, I have done that in this show, so let’s see how much happiness this Diwali will bring to me.”  

Rohit Bose Roy is known for his role in Hindi television serials such as ‘Des Mein Niklla Hoga Chand’ and ‘Swabhimaan’. Besides working in television series, Rohit has also acted in Hinid films such as ‘Kaabil’, ‘Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena’, ‘Apartment’, ‘Plan’, ‘Paltan’, ‘Calendar Girls’, ‘Fashion’, Shootout At Lokhandwala’, ‘Kaante’, ‘LOC Kargil’ and among others.

Recently, Hansal Mehta’s web series ‘Scam 1992’ which is based on life of Harshad Mehta has been getting rave reviews from the audience and critics, when asked Roy whether he feels that his show will be compared with ‘Scam 1992’ since both shows are set in Mumbai and in similar era, he said, “I think after successful run of ‘Scam 1992’, people will definitely watch ‘Paper’. ‘Scam 1992’ is based on a real incident and a real character but while making our show, we have taken inspiration from real incidents and created a fictional world. Both the shows are set in same era and in fact, there is a reference of Harshad Mehta in our show. Having said that, I don’t think both shows have any similarities with each other. I also know that people will make comparison between these two shows but I hope that we would live up to audience expectations. I have been working in this industry for the last 25 years and this is the first time, I am very much confident that people will like my work.”

‘Paper’ will stream on Ullu app from 13th November.

Apart from ‘Paper’, Rohit will be seen onscreen in Sanjay Gupta’s crime action film ‘Mumbai Saga’ along with John Abraham, Emraan Hashmi, Suniel Shetty, Sharman Joshi, Vivek Oberoi, Prateik Babbar, Mahesh Manjrekar, Amol Gupte and among others.
