Gurugram, Feb 21 (IANS) Local golfers Gorav Jaitly and Ajay Singh captured the two National finals spots available on the opening day of the 17th annual Mercedes Trophy at the DLF Golf and Country Club here on Tuesday.
Gorav Jaitly Category - A (0-16) and Ajay Singh Category - B (17-24) ended the day at net score of 71 and 71.8 respectively.
They will now be playing the National finals scheduled in the Pune Oxford Golf Resort, to be held in Pune from March 15-17.
Among other golfers, Vikas Anand won the Ballantine's Long Drive Challenge on the 15th hole with a mammoth drive of 290 yards.
Three winners from the National finals will progress to the Mercedes Trophy world finals in Germany in September to compete against winners from all over the world.
