The Man with the Bag Teaser: Arnold Schwarzenegger Is Santa in a Hilarious Christmas Heist Adventure

Christmas is getting a little more chaotic this year! Amazon MGM Studios has unveiled the first-look teaser trailer for The Man with the Bag, a festive comedy that puts a hilarious twist on the traditional Christmas story. Directed by Adam Shankman, the film stars Arnold Schwarzenegger as none other than Santa Claus, but this isn’t the quiet, chimney-climbing Santa audiences may be expecting. When his legendary red bag disappears, the fate of Christmas suddenly depends on a very unusual group of criminals.

The film follows Santa after his iconic bag is stolen by a disgruntled rogue elf, played by Awkwafina, who apparently has a serious grudge against the North Pole. With Christmas Eve rapidly approaching and Santa’s most important night of the year in danger, he has little choice but to look outside his usual circle for help. Enter Alan Ritchson as Vance, a thief who finds himself recruited straight from Santa’s infamous “Naughty List” to help pull off an impossible Christmas rescue mission.

But Santa isn’t planning to pull off the heist alone. Vance assembles a crew of criminally skilled misfits, creating a team that sounds about as far from Santa’s usual workshop helpers as possible. With assistance from elves and reindeer, this unlikely gang must figure out how to retrieve the stolen bag before Christmas is ruined. The result promises a festive mash-up of heist comedy, holiday magic and action, with plenty of room for things to go hilariously wrong along the way.

The cast adds another layer of fun to the Christmas caper. Alongside Schwarzenegger, Ritchson and Awkwafina, the film features Berkeley James, Michael Cyril Creighton, Liza Koshy, Kyle Mooney, Jane Krakowski and Ken Jeong. With such a comedy-heavy ensemble, The Man with the Bag appears to be aiming for a broad holiday crowd, mixing eccentric characters with a fast-moving crime story and plenty of Christmas chaos.

At the heart of the film is more than just the stolen Santa bag, however. The story is also being billed as an adventure about second chances, unlikely friendships and helping one another when everything seems to have gone wrong. Santa recruiting a thief from his Naughty List gives the film a playful way to explore redemption, while the combination of criminals, elves and reindeer promises plenty of opportunities for comedy. And yes, even Santa apparently needs a little backup sometimes.

The Man with the Bag is directed by Adam Shankman, with the screenplay written by Allan Rice, and is scheduled to arrive on December 2, 2026. With Arnold Schwarzenegger putting his own spin on Santa Claus, Awkwafina playing a rebellious elf and Alan Ritchson leading a gang of unlikely Christmas criminals, this could be one holiday movie where the naughty list gets a very different kind of makeover. Santa has the bag, the thieves have the plan—and Christmas has a deadline!
