Nayyi Navelli Trailer: Yami Gautam Dhar Turns Mysterious Bride in Balaji Mohan’s Horror-Comedy

Yami Gautam Dhar is all set to step into a completely different world with her upcoming film ‘Nayyi Navelli’, and the trailer has already sparked curiosity around her mysterious new avatar. The official trailer of the Amazon MGM Studios and Colour Yellow production was unveiled on September 30, giving audiences a glimpse of a story that blends family drama, humour, mystery, supernatural elements and action. Directed by Balaji Mohan, the film is set in Meerut and revolves around Mohini, a newly married woman whose arrival at the Awasthi household soon turns an ordinary family story into something far more unexpected.

Yami plays Mohini, a picture-perfect new bride who enters the Awasthi family after her marriage. At first, everything appears almost too good to be true, as Mohini seems to bring happiness and harmony into her new home. But the trailer gradually peels back that cheerful surface and introduces a growing sense of suspicion. Questions begin to emerge about Mohini’s past, her true intentions and the secrets surrounding her. What initially looks like a familiar story of a new daughter-in-law finding her place in a household soon takes a supernatural turn, with the possibility that the seemingly perfect bride may be hiding something much darker.

Adding to the intrigue is the family’s growing suspicion about Mohini. A suspicious brother-in-law begins to wonder whether the new bride is really the blessing she appears to be or whether there is another explanation for the strange events unfolding around the family. The trailer plays with the idea of a ‘daayan’ in disguise while balancing spooky moments with comedy and family chaos. Yami’s new look and performance also stand out, suggesting that ‘Nayyi Navelli’ will give her an opportunity to explore a character very different from the roles audiences have seen her play before.

The film brings together an interesting ensemble alongside Yami Gautam Dhar, including Addinath M. Kothare, Anurag Thakur, Sunita Rajwar, Mita Vasisth, Aaditya Kulshreshth, Susmita Mukherjee and Prateek Pachori in key roles. Their presence adds to the lively family setting at the centre of the story, while the trailer hints that each character could have a role to play as the mystery around Mohini deepens. With humour sitting alongside supernatural suspense and action, the film appears to be aiming for an entertaining mix rather than sticking to a single genre.

‘Nayyi Navelli’ is directed by Balaji Mohan and written by Himanshu Sharma and Divy Nidhi Sharma. The film is produced by Aanand L. Rai and Himanshu Sharma and comes from Amazon MGM Studios in association with Colour Yellow Productions. Music for the film has been composed by G. V. Prakash Kumar, adding another key element to the film’s blend of comedy, mystery and drama. The Meerut setting also gives the story a rooted family backdrop as the supernatural mystery begins to unfold inside the Awasthi household.

The film is scheduled to arrive in cinemas across India on October 16, 2026, just ahead of Dussehra. With its unusual combination of a newly married woman, a chaotic family, hidden secrets and the possibility of a witch hiding behind the perfect-bride image, ‘Nayyi Navelli’ is shaping up as an intriguing theatrical release. For Yami Gautam Dhar, the film also marks a chance to surprise audiences with a character that keeps them guessing about what is really happening behind Mohini’s seemingly innocent smile.
