Guddu Badshah murder case: Eight accused held after 12,000-km interstate operation

New Delhi, Sep 2 (SocialNews.XYZ) The Delhi Police on Thursday have cracked the murder case of Md. Irshad Alam alias Guddu Badshah, who was shot dead at Lal Kuan in Delhi's Pul Prahladpur in July-end with eight accused persons arrested following an extensive interstate investigation spanning Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Telangana and Tamil Nadu and covering around 12,000 km.

According to the police, the accused attempted to evade arrest by switching off their mobile phones, changing locations and using internet-based or hotspot communication. However, a combination of technical surveillance, field intelligence and electronic evidence helped the police trace and apprehend them.

The police said that information about a firing incident at D-29, Chungi No. 3 at Lal Kuan in Pul Prahladpur was received on July 28.

Upon reaching the spot, the police found Md. Irshad Alam alias Guddu dead, while Md. Farukh was found injured with a firearm injury.

The Crime Team and Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) Team inspected the crime scene. Blood-stained exhibits, empty cartridges, live cartridges and metallic projectiles were recovered and seized as per law.

Initially, Farukh projected himself as an injured victim. However, during detailed questioning, coupled with Call Detail Record (CDR) analysis, technical surveillance, field intelligence and examination of other evidence, inconsistencies in his version came to light. His alleged involvement in the conspiracy subsequently surfaced, following which he was arrested on July 28.

The investigation revealed that the murder stemmed from an old rivalry between the deceased and accused persons Shamshad and Ashafak, originating from their native area in Bihhar's Supaul.

According to the police, the accused hatched a conspiracy to eliminate Guddu Badshah and lured him from Bihar to Delhi on the pretext of settling their longstanding dispute.

The purported settlement meeting was used as a trap. Guddu was subsequently brought to a rented premises or warehouse in Lal Kuan, where he was shot dead.

The investigation further revealed that different accused persons played specific roles in planning and coordinating the crime, transporting and accommodating the members of the execution team, carrying out the assault and attempting to conceal or remove evidence.

The eight accused have been identified as Md. Farukh (27), a resident of Delhi's Pul Prahladpur; Md. Aftab, a resident of Bihar's Supaul; Md. Irfan (23), a resident of Sahibabad in Uttar Pradesh's Ghaziabad; Md. Shamshad (28), a resident of Bihar's Supaul; Md. Ashafak (23), a resident of Bihar's Supaul; Md. Rahmatullah alias Chhotu, 22, a resident of Bihar's Supaul; Aman Yadav, 25, a resident of Lal Kuan's Pul Prahladpur in Delhi; and Md. Shoib Akhtar, a resident of Bihar's Supaul.

Police said that Shamshad and Ashafak were also found to have criminal antecedents, including their involvement in a murder case registered in Supaul.

According to the police, Farukh gained the confidence of the deceased, brought him to the rented premises on the pretext of settling the dispute and facilitated coordination among the co-accused. He also attempted to mislead the investigation by presenting himself as an innocent injured victim.

Aftab coordinated with the co-accused and facilitated the movement and assembly of the alleged execution team. He was traced to Tiruppur in Tamil Nadu, where he was apprehended with the assistance of the local police.

Irfan provided shelter and logistical assistance after the offence and concealed illegal arms and ammunition.

Based on his disclosure, the police recovered one illegal pistol, one extra magazine and live cartridges.

Shamshad emerged as one of the principal conspirators and remained in communication with the co-accused through internet-based communication platforms. His digital and communication links are being further corroborated.

Ashafak remained in communication with the other conspirators and participated in planning and coordination related to the alleged offence.

Rahmatullah alias Chhotu participated in the execution of the planned assault and subsequently assisted in concealing or removing material evidence.

Shoaib Akhtar accompanied members of the execution team during their movement from Tamil Nadu to Delhi and subsequently remained associated with the co-accused.

Aman Yadav facilitated accommodation and logistical arrangements for the co-accused near Lal Kuan and subsequently joined the conspiracy after being offered financial consideration. He accompanied Aftab, Rahmatullah and Shoaib on his motorcycle on the night of the incident and participated in the firing.

The police said that further recovery of the firearm and other case property concealed by Yadav is being pursued as per law.

During the investigation, the police recovered or seized one illegal pistol, one extra magazine, live cartridges and other material evidence connected with the case.

The recovery of two additional illegal firearms and other case property concealed by Aman Yadav and Farukh is being pursued in accordance with law.

The recovered firearm and ammunition are being subjected to forensic and ballistic examination to establish their possible connection with the offence.

The police said that the investigation involved an interstate pursuit covering around 12,000 km across Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Telangana and Tamil Nadu.

CCTV footage and other electronic evidence were also examined, while assistance was taken from the Crime Team and FSL. Coordinated raids were subsequently conducted at multiple locations across the five states.

The investigation conducted so far indicates a pre-planned murder pursuant to an alleged criminal conspiracy, the police said.

According to the investigation, different accused persons played different roles in gaining the confidence of the deceased, bringing him to the target location, arranging accommodation and transportation, coordinating the conspirators, arranging or concealing firearms, executing the assault and attempting to destroy or conceal evidence.

All eight accused persons have been produced before the court.

Further investigation is underway.
