Mumbai, Aug 21 (SocialNews.XYZ) Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) working president and MP Supriya Sule on Friday said that the faction founded by Sharad Pawar continues to wage an organisational fight in the Supreme Court, describing it as a battle of morality.
She emphasised that while the Ajit Pawar faction may have won before the Election Commission, the party’s constitution and ownership rightfully belong to Sharad Pawar. Sule termed stripping the party from him and assigning it to another group a major injustice.
Speaking to reporters, she clarified that the fight is centred on the principle that the party belongs to the person who built it.
“What Sharad Pawar decides to do with the party afterwards will be his decision, alongside those involved in the organisational process. This is not a personal issue for any of us, as an organisation is nobody’s private property,” she said.
Following remarks by Congress leader Prithviraj Chavan on the Delimitation Bill, Sule issued a sharp counterattack. Responding to Chavan’s advice not to “align with Manusmritivadis,” she said local Congress leaders in Maharashtra consistently place the NCP in the wrong category, suggesting a lack of coordination with their central leadership.
“We remain in constant communication with central Congress leaders, but state Congress leaders in Maharashtra repeatedly place us in the wrong box,” she added.
Addressing the controversy surrounding Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi’s upcoming visit to Pune, Sule said, “Rahul Gandhi is the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha. If he is coming to Pune to attend an event organised by his party, why impose so many strict conditions? He will arrive, interact with students peacefully through democratic means, and leave. What is wrong with that?”
She raised serious concerns regarding the conditions imposed by the local administration on Rahul Gandhi’s visit, questioning why restrictions were being placed on a democratic programme.
Sule further said leaders from Kashmir to Kanyakumari regularly visit Sharad Pawar for discussions, noting his ability to set aside differences and give everyone time with a broader perspective.
She added that Opposition MPs face discrimination similar to municipal councillors, as development funds are withheld despite repeated requests.
Drawing a comparison with her party’s previous tenure in governance, Sule said, “When our government was in power, we ensured that the work of our own members was done, but we often executed the work of Opposition leaders at double the speed. Development shouldn’t suffer just because someone belongs to the Opposition.”
She extended firm support to MP Bajrang Sonawane, warning against “dirty politics” being dragged to people’s doorsteps.
Sule said the party would not tolerate false cases against Sonawane’s family or any party worker.
Sule also claimed that quality is lacking across all sectors, roads, education, ashram schools and anganwadis.
She questioned where the money was going if large funds were sanctioned, alleging corruption in poor‑quality food served to school students.
