KTR, Kavitha question Rahul Gandhi's silence on 'brutalities' in Telangana

Hyderabad, Aug 21 (SocialNews.XYZ) Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Working President K.T. Rama Rao and Telangana Rakshana Sena (TRS) leader K. Kavitha on Friday criticised the Congress for its alleged "double standards" and questioned Rahul Gandhi's silence on 'police brutalities' on protesting students in Telangana.

The BRS leader leader took to social media platform X to ask the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, if he would stage a dharna at the residence of Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy over the cane charge on protesting students in Telangana.

K.T. Rama Rao (also known as KTR) was reacting to Rahul Gandhi's at the Parliament Street police station demanding an FIR against the police brutality on a student during the recent protest in the national capital.

"There are two Indias! One where cane charge on students is questioned by the Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi, and he stages a dharna in their support. He will deliver passionate, heartwarming speeches in their support. And then there is this! Students of Telangana cane charged, choked, dragged and kicked by the police," KTR said, who posted a photo of Rahul Gandhi with an injured student and also picture of the police using force against protesting students in Telangana.

"This India exists in a parallel universe where the rules of the Constitution are not applicable. Will you stage a dharna at the Revanth Reddy Jubilee Hills Palace too? Or are our Telangana students dispensable because the lathis here have the stamp of your Congress party," the BRS leader asked Rahul Gandhi.

KTR's sister and TRS leader K. Kavitha also questioned Rahul Gandhi's silence on the police high-handedness against students protesting in Telangana.

"Rahul Gandhi ji, while you rush to file an FIR over police action in Delhi, why the complete silence on Congress police brutality in Telangana? You called it brutality. Good, you should have. Now look at Mahabubabad. On August 19, a Police Inspector serving under your own Congress Govt was caught on camera grabbing polytechnic students by the throat and manhandling them during a peaceful protest against them. The videos of students gasping for breath are everywhere. Where was your outrage then?" she asked.

"Students fighting for their future and their education are being treated like criminals under your own party's government in Telangana. Delhi gets your outrage. Telangana gets your silence. Our students deserve better than your double standards," the TRS leader said.
