When asked why he chose to hand over his place to Shivangi despite fighting for over a month inside the jail, Harshad defended his decision without hesitation. "A friend in need is a friend indeed. That's just who I am. I don't overthink when it comes to friends. I simply did what I felt was right at that moment," he said. Rejecting the claim that guilt influenced his decision, he added, "No, it wasn't like that at all. I genuinely felt it was the right thing to do."
The actor also reacted to the online backlash claiming Shivangi took advantage of his emotions. Harshad strongly dismissed the narrative. "It's incorrect. I kept asking why people thought that, but nobody could explain it. She wasn't using me. People only saw what I did for her, but they didn't see how she shared her food with me whenever we had very little to eat. Our friendship wasn't perfect—we even fought many times." His statement directly counters the theories that have dominated social media ever since his eviction episode aired.
Harshad admitted that watching people's reactions after coming out of the show came as a surprise. "The moment I reached home, my sister was upset with me. After hearing what friends were saying, I realized this is how people were seeing it from outside. I was shocked because I thought I was coming across differently. But I wasn't pretending. I was simply being myself," he confessed. He also clarified that his earlier statement about asking contestants to vote him out was misunderstood and happened only once because he had no prior reality show experience.
While his game strategy continues to divide viewers, Harshad believes the biggest victory was personal growth. "These 35 days are the most adventurous thing I've ever done. I survived without things I thought I couldn't live without—hot water, supplements, proper food. I discovered so much about myself, and that's something I'll carry forever." Love him or question his gameplay, Harshad Chopda's emotional honesty has ensured that his Lock Upp journey remains one of the season's most talked-about storylines.
