HM Amit Shah reviews rain situation with Gujarat CM, assures Centre's full support

New Delhi/Gandhinagar, July 8 (SocialNews.XYZ) Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday spoke to Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel to review the situation arising from heavy rainfall and waterlogging across the state, assuring that the Centre would extend all possible assistance for relief and rescue operations.

According to officials, HM Shah held a telephone conversation with the Chief Minister to obtain an update on the heavy rainfall affecting several parts of Gujarat and the resulting waterlogging.

The two leaders reviewed the progress of relief and rescue operations in the affected areas and discussed measures being taken to ensure the safety of residents.

The Union Home Minister said the Central Government was closely monitoring the rainfall situation in Gujarat and remained in constant contact with the state government.

He expressed confidence that all the agencies concerned were working in coordination to provide immediate relief to people affected by the heavy rain.

HM Shah assured the Chief Minister that, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Centre stood shoulder to shoulder with the state during every natural disaster.

"The Central Government would immediately provide all necessary resources, technical assistance and any other support required because of the ongoing heavy rainfall," he said.

He also assured every possible assistance for the effective management of relief and rescue operations in the affected areas.

The review comes as Gujarat continues to experience an active monsoon spell. The India Meteorological Department has warned of heavy to very heavy rainfall over parts of the state and issued alerts for several districts, with a risk of localised flash flooding in vulnerable areas.

Authorities have advised residents in low-lying regions to remain cautious and follow official advisories as the wet spell is expected to continue.

Rainfall has been widespread across Gujarat over the past 24 hours, with several districts reporting waterlogging and disruption to normal life.

The southwest monsoon has now covered the entire state, while Ahmedabad also received rainfall as the weather system intensified.

Red alerts had earlier been issued for parts of South Gujarat and Saurashtra, where emergency response agencies have remained on standby amid forecasts of continued heavy precipitation.
