New Delhi, July 3 (SocialNews.XYZ) Delhi BJP President Harsh Malhotra on Friday chaired the first review meeting on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls initiated by the Election Commission of India in the city.
The meeting reviewed the progress made during the first two days of the exercise, which commenced on July 1.
The meeting was attended by BJP National Secretary Om Prakash Dhankhar, Delhi BJP Organisation General Secretary Pawan Rana, SIR In-charge and Member of Parliament Yogender Chandolia, Delhi SIR Team members Ramesh Bidhuri and Sanket Gupta, besides district presidents, district SIR team members, and BLA-2 coordinators from all districts.
Delhi BJP General Secretary and SIR Process In-charge Yogender Chandolia stated that, like other political parties in Delhi, the BJP also has its BLA-2 (Booth Level Agents) duly registered with the Election Commission.
He said that Delhi has a total of 13,033 polling booths, of which more than 12,000 have BJP's registered BLA-2 representatives.
These BLA-2 workers have been engaged for quite some time in voter verification and mapping at their respective polling stations, he said.
Consequently, they are fully prepared to extend all possible cooperation and support to the Booth Level Officers (BLOs) appointed by the Election Commission during the SIR exercise, he said.
He informed that on behalf of the Delhi BJP, former MP Ramesh Bidhuri and Advocate Sanket Gupta are coordinating with the Election Commission and overseeing the training of the party's BLA-2 representatives.
In another development, a joint meeting of the Delhi BJP's media department team and the 12 newly formed district BJP media teams was held on Friday at the state office.
Chaired by Delhi BJP media chief Praveen Shankar Kapoor, the meeting was addressed by Chief Spokesperson and MLA Abhay Verma.
All newly appointed district media chiefs and spokespersons were introduced at the meeting, after which Verma discussed the current political context.
Kapoor explained to the participants the working procedures of the media department and the rules for addressing the media.
