Kolkata, June 21 (SocialNews.XYZ) The re-examination of the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) UG was conducted smoothly across West Bengal on Sunday.
A total of 22.79 lakh candidates appeared for the examination across the country. The number of candidates in West Bengal stood at 1.09 lakh.
The examination was conducted at a total of 218 centres across the state, including Calcutta University and Jadavpur University.
Sources said that the number of candidates at several centres in the state on June 21 was lower than that recorded on May 3.
Several students who appeared for the examination said that the Physics section was quite difficult.
Anushka Agarwal from Malda district appeared for the examination at a centre in Calcutta University. According to her, the previous examination was easier.
Two candidates from Tollygunge and Kidderpore in Kolkata also expressed similar views.
Several candidates said on social media that while the Biology section was easy, the Physics section was comparatively difficult.
Meanwhile, a seriously injured student appeared for the examination in Kolkata with medical assistance.
It is learnt that she was seriously injured in a road accident on June 14. It is learnt that nine of her ribs were fractured and her lungs were injured.
The candidate, Shrishti Dubey, appeared for the examination at Binodini Girls' School in south Kolkata on Sunday with a medical team.
Following his daughter's accident, Shrishti's father contacted Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
Subsequently, special arrangements were made for her by the Ministry of Education.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) said that special arrangements were made for Shrishti on the ground floor of the examination centre.
A medical team accompanied her, while an ambulance remained stationed outside the centre.
It is worth noting that International Yoga Day was celebrated at several prominent locations across the state, including Rabindra Setu.
As a result, several roads were closed, prompting many candidates to leave home early to avoid delays.
The NTA had said that candidates would be allowed to enter the examination centres between 11 a.m. and 1.30 p.m., after which no candidate would be permitted entry.
As biometric verification requires considerable time, the agency advised candidates to arrive early.
Consequently, many candidates reached their examination centres well before the scheduled time.
On May 3, more than 22 lakh candidates appeared for the entrance examination for admission to undergraduate medical courses.
However, allegations of question paper leakage surfaced after the examination was conducted
On May 12, the NTA announced the cancellation of the examination.
Soon after the cancellation, protests erupted across the country over NEET UG.
The examination regulator introduced several measures for the June 21 re-examination to ensure that such incidents were not repeated.
