Maanvi Gagroo Shatters Bollywood Catfight Myth With Bold Take On Female Friendships And Industry Insecurity

Bollywood often sells a shiny image of friendships, rivalries, and relationships, but actress Maanvi Gagroo is here to challenge one of its oldest clichés. From the idea that male actors share only bromance while female co-stars are stuck in catfights or dating rumours, she calls out the narrative as something far from reality. Her take is refreshing, honest, and rooted in lived experience from within the ever-changing world of Hindi entertainment.

Speaking about the misconception, Maanvi didn’t hold back and shared a powerful perspective that reflects the emotional truth of many actresses working in the industry today. She said, “I feel like this whole idea—that "oh, they’re catty," or that two girls can't be friends, or two actresses can't be friends—is something that’s been imposed on us. We’re conditioned to believe this because we’re made to feel like we’re constantly competing with one another. Whether it’s while growing up—competing for grades or a boy's attention—or later in the industry, it always feels like a battle. But I don’t think it’s true. We all have our own strengths and weaknesses, and—as the saying goes—there’s enough room for everyone under the same sky; there’s space for all of us.”

She further broke down how insecurity is not gendered but deeply tied to the unpredictability of show business. According to her, friendships do exist among actresses, and conversations often go beyond competition. In fact, it is not unusual for co-stars to casually ask each other about auditions or upcoming projects. This openness, she suggests, slowly dismantles the outdated belief that women in the industry are always in silent rivalry.

Expanding on the emotional instability that comes with acting careers, Maanvi added, “People might say otherwise, but I believe the more secure you are in yourself, the more comfortable you become with it. I have many friends who are actresses, and we actually even ask each other things like, "Hey, did you audition for this movie?" It also stems from the fact that in this industry, you tend to get insecure—everyone does, whether you're a guy or a girl—because you never know what might come your way or when.”

She also highlighted how different the entertainment world is from structured corporate careers. Unlike a fixed path where promotions and goals are predictable, the film industry is full of sudden twists and turns. One moment can change everything, and even a confirmed role can disappear overnight. This constant uncertainty, she explains, is what fuels insecurity rather than competition alone.

“There is no fixed structure like there is in a corporate setting, where you have a clear path: complete your bachelor's and MBA, meet sales targets, and get a promotion. Here, that doesn't exist. You could be walking along and suddenly get a phone call—one that could be life-changing. At other times, you might think you're doing a major film, only to get a call saying you've been replaced. There is so much uncertainty that we all tend to feel insecure. However, I believe that the more secure we feel within ourselves and the more we work on ourselves, the better off we'll be. We're getting there” added Maanvi.

Known for her sharp comic timing and deeply relatable performances, Maanvi Gagroo has become one of the defining faces of India’s OTT boom. From her breakout roles in TVF Pitchers and Tripling to her acclaimed performance as Siddhi Patel in Four More Shots Please, she has consistently balanced humour with emotional depth. Her voice now extends beyond acting into conversations about body positivity, industry pressure, and self-worth.

On the work front, Maanvi Gagroo is making headlines again with her return to the big screen in the female-led road trip drama Heer Sara alongside Patralekhaa. She also continues to expand her OTT presence with Half Love Half Arranged and recently joined as a jury member for the KASHISH 2026 Student Shorts segment, reinforcing her growing influence both in front of and behind the camera.
