Patna, May 27 (SocialNews.XYZ) Janata Dal (United) (JD-U) MLA Amarendra Kumar Pandey, also known as Pappu Pandey, has received interim relief from the ADJ-3 MP/MLA Special Court in a case involving allegations of providing patronage to the land mafia and engaging in illegal land encroachment.
During the latest hearing on Wednesday, the court extended the stay on the arrest of the JD(U) MLA. The MLA represents the Kuchaikote Assembly constituency.
The next hearing in this matter is scheduled for June 3, at which time the court is expected to deliver its final verdict on the MLA's anticipatory bail plea.
The case pertains to the alleged illegal encroachment of approximately 16 acres of land in Belwa village, within the jurisdiction of the Kuchaikote Police Station.
According to the allegations levelled in the FIR filed by the complainant, Pappu Pandey is accused of allegedly providing patronage and protection to individuals involved in the encroachment.
The police are currently investigating the allegations based on the FIR, while legal proceedings against the MLA continue in court.
The charges include the alleged misuse of political influence and the provision of support to criminal elements linked to the disputed land case.
Given the gravity of the allegations, the MLA had approached the court seeking anticipatory bail.
At the previous hearing on May 19, the court granted interim protection against arrest, which has now been extended until the next hearing date.
Apart from Pappu Pandey, his brother Satish Pandey and Chartered Accountant Rahul Tiwari are also co-accused in this case.
During the hearing on May 19, the court rejected the anticipatory bail pleas of Satish Pandey and Rahul Tiwari, a major setback for them.
This case has garnered significant political attention across Gopalganj, and both political and administrative circles are closely monitoring the proceedings.
Given the high-profile nature of the case, security arrangements around the court premises were reportedly tightened during the hearing.
Political observers are now keeping a close watch on the June 3 hearing, which is considered crucial in determining whether the court grants permanent relief to the MLA or permits further legal proceedings against him.
