Sudhir revealed that before Dhurandhar arrived, the industry was struggling to recover from the aftermath of the pandemic. According to him, audience enthusiasm for films had dramatically changed after COVID, and very few projects were truly connecting with people. “Prior to COVID, the market landscape was entirely different. In the period that followed, very few films were actually becoming hits, and audience reception was generally quite lukewarm. Then, a drastic shift swept through the entire industry.”
According to the singer, Dhurandhar arrived exactly during this uncertain phase and unexpectedly exploded into a cultural phenomenon. He admitted that even the team initially did not fully understand how massive the response would become. “For the first three or four days after its release, there wasn't much buzz surrounding it; however, starting from the fifth day, discussions—including those about this particular song—really began to pick up.”
Sudhir’s vocals became a crucial part of the film’s identity through the viral track Naade Dil Pardesi Nu. He recalled how social media platforms, especially Reels, completely transformed the song into a nationwide obsession. He also praised rapper Hanumankind for bringing a distinct sound to the project. “He lent his voice to it—and it was bound to be a hit anyway, given the immense reputation he is building for himself. Moreover, his sound is quite distinct from that of other rappers in India.”
However, Sudhir also addressed the criticism and debates surrounding Dhurandhar. The singer acknowledged that the film sparked intense conversations online, with some viewers calling it “propaganda” while others accused it of being overly dramatic or manufactured. Yet, despite the backlash, Sudhir believes the impact of the franchise cannot be denied.
“Deep down—or perhaps you could even call it fear—there is a certain sentiment among people. Some have labeled it ‘propaganda.’ Some have dismissed it as contrived or artificial. However, the undeniable truth is that Dhurandhar 1 and 2—even if I hesitate to call them the greatest films of the century—have undoubtedly stood as the biggest cinematic events of the decade.”
The singer’s comments have now gone viral online, sparking fresh debate among movie lovers and industry insiders. Many fans supported his statement, arguing that Dhurandhar successfully brought audiences back to cinemas during a difficult phase for the entertainment business. Others pointed out how the film’s music, action, and larger-than-life storytelling created a cultural wave rarely seen in recent years.
Interestingly, Sudhir also highlighted the unpredictable nature of the music and film industries. He explained how singers often record tracks without knowing where they will eventually be used, and how even rejected songs can unexpectedly become career-defining moments later. His story has resonated strongly with aspiring artists trying to survive the highly competitive entertainment industry.
Whether one agrees with his views or not, Sudhir Yaduvanshi’s interview has undeniably reignited conversations about Bollywood’s post-pandemic evolution, the power of viral music, and the changing definition of a blockbuster in modern Indian cinema.
