CM Yadav announces Rs 5 lakh aid to kin of three ‘martyrs’ who died in Bhojshala movement

Dhar/Bhopal, May 25 (SocialNews.XYZ) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has announced financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh each to the families of three individuals who lost their lives during the Bhojshala movement.

The announcement was made as a mark of respect and solidarity with the bereaved families.

The Chief Minister honoured the families of the late Pant Singh, the late Antar Singh, and the late Laxman Singh, describing them as martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the cause of Bhojshala.

He said in Dhar that the state government stands firmly with the families in their hour of grief and will continue to support them.

The Bhojshala movement, which has been a long-standing struggle by the Hindu community for the restoration of the ancient Bhojshala complex in Dhar as a temple of Goddess Saraswati, saw violent clashes in 2003.

Pant Singh, Antar Singh, and Laxman Singh were among those who lost their lives during protests and police action related to the movement that year.

During the Monday event, a moment of silence was observed for the peace of the departed souls of the three martyrs.

CM Yadav paid rich tributes to their courage and dedication, saying their sacrifice would always be remembered in the state’s history.

The Bhojshala issue has once again come into focus following the recent Madhya Pradesh High Court verdict, which recognised the site's historical temple character.

The Chief Minister’s decision is being seen as a morale booster for the community and a reaffirmation of the government’s commitment to cultural issues.

The Bhojshala movement has been a long-standing campaign by the Hindu community seeking the rightful restoration and access to the ancient Bhojshala complex in Dhar, which is believed to be a temple of Goddess Saraswati from the Parmar dynasty era.

Over the years, the issue has seen several phases of protests and demands for archaeological surveys.

The movement gained fresh momentum in recent months with continued demonstrations and legal battles.

The announcement of financial assistance is being seen as a significant step by the Madhya Pradesh government to acknowledge the contribution and sacrifice of those who actively participated in the movement.
