Ranbir Kapoor and Yash’s ‘Ramayana’ May Release Earlier Than Expected Ahead of Diwali 2026

Ranbir Kapoor and Yash's 'Ramayana' May Release Earlier Than Expected Ahead of Diwali 2026

The excitement surrounding Ramayana just got even bigger. According to industry buzz, the much-awaited mythological epic starring Ranbir Kapoor and Yash could hit theatres earlier than its originally announced release date. While the film was initially slated to release on November 6, 2026, coinciding with Diwali, reports now suggest the makers are considering advancing the release by nearly a week, potentially bringing it to cinemas on October 30, 2026.

The reported move is being viewed as a strategic box office decision aimed at maximizing the film’s theatrical run during the lucrative Diwali holiday period. Releasing ahead of the festive rush could allow Ramayana to dominate screens longer and benefit from stronger word-of-mouth before the holiday weekend peaks. Though no official confirmation has been issued by the makers yet, the speculation has already sparked massive excitement among fans online.

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra, Ramayana is one of the most ambitious projects ever mounted in Indian cinema. Based on the ancient Hindu epic, the film serves as the first chapter of a planned two-part saga. Ranbir Kapoor is set to portray Lord Ram, while Yash steps into the powerful role of Raavan. The ensemble cast also includes Sai Pallavi as Sita, Sunny Deol as Hanuman, and Ravi Dubey as Lakshman.

The supporting cast further adds to the film’s scale, featuring legends and major stars including Amitabh Bachchan, Arun Govil, Lara Dutta, Vivek Oberoi, Kajal Aggarwal, Rakul Preet Singh, and Shobana among others.

What makes Ramayana even more historic is its massive reported budget, estimated between ₹2,600 crore and ₹4,000 crore, making it the costliest Indian film ever produced. Backed by Prime Focus Studios, Monster Mind Creations, and Atlas Entertainment, the film promises groundbreaking visuals powered by DNEG. Adding to the global appeal is the music collaboration between Oscar-winning composer Hans Zimmer and music maestro A. R. Rahman, marking Zimmer’s first Indian project.

With sky-high expectations, an all-star cast, cutting-edge VFX, and one of the biggest mythological stories ever told, Ramayana is already shaping up to be a cinematic event unlike anything Indian audiences have seen before. And if the release date truly gets advanced, the Diwali 2026 box office race could become even more explosive.
