Actress Sharvari Wagh’s excitement is palpable as she talks about her upcoming role in Main Vaapas Aaunga, directed by the celebrated filmmaker Imtiaz Ali. Reflecting on her journey, Sharvari said, “I always wanted to work on his films, especially because the female characters of his movies are very complex, and I always wanted to play such a character.” This statement sets the tone for what audiences can expect—a deep, layered portrayal that fits perfectly within Imtiaz Ali’s vision of love and storytelling.

For Sharvari, being part of Main Vaapas Aaunga is not just another film but a milestone. She expressed, “It is a big thing for me to be a part of the film Main Vaapas Aaunga… As an actor, I always wanted to make my own place in his vision that he has for love stories.” This passion shines through as she steps into her role as Jiya, a character shaped by complex emotions and historical turmoil.

Main Vaapas Aaunga is a Hindi-language period romantic drama set during the 1947 Partition of India, a time of immense upheaval and emotion. The film, set for release on June 12, 2026, explores a cross-generational love story filled with memory, nostalgia, and the longing for home. It also marks the second collaboration between director Imtiaz Ali and lead actor Diljit Dosanjh, following their success with Amar Singh Chamkila.

Sharvari shares the screen with an ensemble cast including Diljit Dosanjh as the lead and veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah in a pivotal role. The story centers around Jiya and Keenu (played by Vedang Raina), whose intertwined lives represent the struggles and hopes tied to migration, love, and the promise of return. The film’s rich narrative promises to bring out the emotional depth Sharvari spoke of, with her character offering a nuanced, strong female presence that is both relatable and inspiring.
