Speaking about the show’s realism and storytelling style, Freddy addressed the fine line between fact and fiction in the series, offering a thoughtful breakdown of its narrative approach. “Some elements are based on real incidents, while other storylines are entirely rooted in reality. The individuals depicted are real people, and the stories woven around them are equally authentic. However, there is one crucial point we must always keep in mind: this segment is created for the purpose of entertainment. It is not a documentary. Consequently, the narratives may be slightly dramatized or embellished, and—as you know—the characters may be developed in greater depth. Yet, speaking specifically of this season, every character you have encountered thus far—dating back to Season One—has undergone significant development. The backstory of each individual character comes as a genuine shock—leaving you wondering, "Why did that happen? Oh, so that is how it unfolded!" he said, teasing layered revelations in the new season.
He also reflected on the emotional discipline required to portray such intense and often morally grey characters. “As artists, our role is not to pass judgment on the specific role or character assigned to us. An artist's duty is simply to perform the given role with absolute sincerity and dedication,” he explained.
Expanding further on his acting philosophy, Freddy added a deeper insight into how performers must detach personal morality from performance. “After all, these stories are drawn directly from the world we inhabit. The presence of the negative is just as essential as the presence of the positive. Now, if we are portraying a character with negative traits—and we begin to judge that character by thinking, ‘This person is doing something wrong’—we will be unable to justify their actions within the narrative. We will fail to do justice to the role as actors. Therefore, an actor's job is not to sit in judgment of their character; rather, it is to inhabit and portray that character with unwavering commitment.”
The series features a strong ensemble cast including Urvashi Rautela, Amit Sial, Abhimanyu Singh, Shalin Bhanot, and Freddy Daruwala himself. Directed by Neeraj Pathak and co-written by Sanjay Masoom and Sameer Arora, the show is jointly developed by Jio Studios, Gold Mountain Pictures, and Spotless Films. With deeper character arcs, shocking backstories, and heightened realism, Inspector Avinash Season 2 promises a darker and more emotionally charged continuation of the saga.
