Delhi mobile snatching case solved within 24 hours, two arrested

New Delhi, May 13 (SocialNews.XYZ) In a swift and efficient operation, the team of Police Station Anand Vihar in Delhi's Shahdara district on Wednesday solved a mobile snatching case within 24 hours of the registration of the FIR, arresting both accused persons and recovering the snatched Samsung S25 mobile phone along with the motorcycle used in the crime.

According to police, the case was registered vide FIR No. 187/2026 dated May 11, under Sections 304(2)/3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) on the complaint of Md. Sahil regarding the snatching of his Samsung S25 mobile phone near Cross River Mall in Shahdara.

 

Police said the incident took place on the night of May 10 at around 11.40 p.m. when the complainant was present near the Cross River Mall area. Two unidentified persons riding a motorcycle allegedly approached him and suddenly snatched his mobile phone before attempting to flee from the spot.

With the immediate assistance of alert members of the public and the quick response of the police staff, one accused, identified as Asif, 29, a resident of New Jafrabad, was apprehended on the spot. However, his associate managed to escape with the snatched mobile phone.

Following the incident, a dedicated police team from PS Anand Vihar launched an intensive investigation using technical surveillance, CCTV footage analysis and local intelligence gathering to trace the absconding accused.

During sustained interrogation of the arrested accused and based on technical evidence, the identity of the co-accused was established as Imran alias Nagga, 30, a resident of Babarpur.

Acting on secret information, the police team conducted a raid and successfully apprehended the co-accused on May 12 near the DM Office at Nand Nagri Gol Chakkar.

During the investigation, police recovered the snatched Samsung S25 mobile phone and the motorcycle bearing registration number DL 1SAD 7XX1, which had been used in the commission of the offence.

Further verification revealed that the recovered motorcycle was itself a stolen vehicle linked to E-FIR No. 010802/26 registered at PS Sarai Rohilla under Section 305(B) of the BNS.

Police said that Imran alias Nagga has previously been involved in more than 18 criminal cases across Delhi/NCR, while Asif has a criminal history involving over 25 cases.

Deputy Commissioner of Police, Shahdara, Rajendra Prasad Meena, appealed to the public to remain vigilant while using mobile phones in public places and to immediately report any suspicious activity or crime through the emergency helpline 112 or at the nearest police station.
