ZEE5 Announces OTT Premiere of Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan Starring Vikrant Massey and Shanaya Kapoor

ZEE5 has officially unveiled the poster and premiere date for Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan, announcing that the romantic drama will begin streaming on the platform from September 5, 2025. Sharing the news on social media, the caption read: "Some feelings are beyond what the eyes can hold..." The film, which stars Vikrant Massey and marks the acting debut of Shanaya Kapoor, aims to capture a timeless love story with a modern twist.

 

Directed by Santosh Singh and written by Mansi Bagla, Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan is inspired by Ruskin Bond’s poignant short story The Eyes Have It. The film tells the story of a visually impaired musician (played by Vikrant Massey) and a theater artist (Shanaya Kapoor), whose chance encounter leads to an emotionally layered connection. Mansi Bagla, also the producer alongside Varun Bagla and Vipin Agnihotri, envisioned the project as a blend of vintage romance and Gen Z sensibilities.

 

Though the film released in theatres on July 11, 2025, it struggled commercially and was deemed a box-office bomb. However, the move to OTT gives Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan a second life, offering audiences a chance to engage with the nuanced storytelling in a more intimate setting. The film’s evocative music, emotional depth, and picturesque cinematography—shot in Mussoorie and Mumbai—are expected to resonate better with the streaming audience.

 

The OTT premiere also highlights the growing trend of films finding their audience post-theatrical release, especially in the romance genre. ZEE5’s platform provides a wider reach for films that may not have performed strongly in cinemas but offer compelling content and strong performances.
