OTT Has Opened Doors For Everyone Says Babil Khan

Actor Babil Khan, who debuted with Netflix release Qala, said that OTT has opened a door for actors and filmmakers to tell stories without commercial restraints.

Babil Khan was interacting with the media on the sidelines of an Award ceremony in Mumbai.

When asked about the important of OTT in current entertainment world, Babil Khan said, “OTT has opened a door for actors and filmmaker, now they are not dependent on the commerce, they can make the films they want to but at the same time, our box-office needs to show good numbers because if it doesn’t work, the culture of cinema, that is dependent of theaters, will vanish. So, bringing a balance is important for us. The best, the ideal situation would be, good movies make money.”

Multiplex is losing business due to over-pricing of tickets, when asked if ticket-price must be regulated, Babil said, “I am actor, and I only know acting, I don’t know the busyness aspect of it, right now I am learning how to win people's heart with my work, and I seriously don’t know how to reduce the price of ticket. I really don’t.”

After Qala and Friday Night Plan, which both released on OTT, actor Babil Khan will be seen in YRF’s first ever series, The Railway Men, based on Bhopal Gas Tragedy.

When asked about the series, Babil added, “Bhopal Gas Tragedy, that accident needs to be reignited in our generation’s memory, this series holds a cultural importance for our society, for me that is most important.”

Helmed by Shiv Rawail, the series also stars R Madhavan, Kay Kay Menon, and Divyendu Sharma. The series releases on Netflix from 18th November.
