Mahesh Bhatt along with Daler Mehndi, Tarsem Jassar and Gurpreet Ghuggi were interacting with Newshelpline during the screening of Punjabi Film Mastaney In Mumbai.
Talking about the film, Mahesh Bhatt said, “It is my good fortune that I got to be part of this films celebration, when I was making my show, Pahchaan, I came close to knowing Sikh community from close quarters, I was smitten with understanding or taste of Rooh (spirit), I came to understand the depth of it. We all keep reading history in the books, but when you meet real people, you understand the culture on which this religion is standing tall.”
“From my brother and friend Avtaar Gill told me that in this movie, the Rooh has been presented beautifully, that is why this movie is making headlines, not just nationally but internationally as well. We need to tell the nation that we do have a treasure, and if we come close to it, we might clear someone of the bias and clogs we might have” added Mahesh.
The film is a huge effort for the Punjabi industry to emerge from the tag of comics and Mahesh Bhatt believes it doesn’t need any support as the film has its heart in the right place.
When asked about making it Tax-free across India, Mahesh Bhatt said, “Fire doesn’t need PRO, it spread by its own, the film is roaring across globe on its own merits, it doesn’t need any support. The real strength of Sikh religion is pretty much alive in Punjabi community, this film will help bringing people together, uniting them, which is very crucial right now. The world is so polarised right now, the purpose of religion to bring people close, gap the distancing between people, that is the role of religion”
The historical action drama film is helmed by Taran Art, starring Tarsem Jassar, Gurpreet Ghuggi, Simi Chahal, Karamjit Anmol and more.
