To make one show or movie there is a team of hundreds of people who work behind the camera and always go unnoticed. These are the real heroes who put everything into the making of that one show so that the emotions behind it could be felt by the audience. And among those unsung heroes, one is the casting director of the show.
Sanjay Shukla who is a well-known casting director of the industry and has done casting for many popular television shows and web series is now ready to spread his magic on the big screen as well.
While asking about his initial days of struggle he said “ I came to Mumbai in 2012 and that time my mindset was to become an actor. I also used to sing so I tried in that profession too but things didn’t work out. Then I struggled with acting till 2013 and I then bagged a small role in the show Maharana Pratap. After that, I bagged a role in Samrat Ashoka. So slowly and steadily I worked as an actor.”
On being asked how he came into the field of casting he told that “ By the end of 2016 I was not getting any work. I was a little depressed and I don’t have a good financial background so I couldn't have waited for 1-2 years, so finally I took an offer from Hats off production to become the casting assistant and it became a turning point in my life. Then I did the casting for Badi Door Se Aaye Hain, Kundali Bhagya, Chandrakanta, and many episodic shows.”
While working in the television industry he has observed everything very closely. “There are many things in Tv which don’t have the sole discretion of the casting director, rather it has the involvement of the channel, producers, creative director,” he says, so finally he decided to quit TV. Shukla has done casting for the movie ‘Welcome to Bhajrangpur’, which is yet to be released, And now he is busy, casting for the new movie in which Arjun Rampal is in the lead.
