India allrounder Hardik Pandya wrote on his official Twitter handle :"Take care of Earth, and Earth will take care of you." Happy World Environment Day.
"Our little time for them now can add years to our planet in future," India's Test vice captain Ajinkya Rahane said in a tweet.
Ace India Test batsman Cheteshwar Pujara urged all his fans to take care of nature and leave a healthier and happier environment for the next generations.
"Let us now take care of the nature and give our coming generations a healthier and happier environment to have a beautiful life. Happy #WorldEnvironmentDay," Pujara said in a tweet.
"Happy world environment day ... This place is historic," tweeted Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President and former India captain Sourav Ganguly with a throwback picture of him helping in tree plantation wearing the India Blue.
"Earth is like our home and we must make efforts to keep it clean and green," urged badminton star Saina Nehwal via a tweet.
ATK's Indian Super League title winning footballer Prabir Das tweeted: "Let us enjoy nature and protect it."
Recently sportspersons including India captain Virat Kohli condemned an incident where a pregnant elephant was allegedly fed pineapple stuffed with firecrackers in Kerala.
The brutal incident of animal abuse took place in Kerala's Palakkad district, which resulted in the death of the elephant while standing in the river.
According to veterinarians who treated the 15-year-old pregnant elephant, some miscreants while chasing away the elephants who occasionally stray into the agricultural land had kept firecrackers inside a pineapple.
"Appalled to hear about what happened in Kerala. Let's treat our animals with love and bring an end to these cowardly acts," Kohli said in a tweet from his Twitter handle.
