CAB to take up Bengal players' BCCI prize money matters

Kolkata, May 18 (SocialNews.XYZ) The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) would take up matters including payments of prize money for BCCI domestic matches of Bengal players for early disposal, it said in a statement on Monday.

"Matters pertaining to payments including prize money for Board Matches to the Bengal players would be taken up by the administration for early disposal," CAB President Avishek Dalmiya said after the association's office bearers met via video conferencing on Monday.

Bengal reached the final of the Ranji Trophy last season after a gap of 13 years, only to lose to Saurashtra at Rajkot in the summit clash. Last year, Bengal also emerged champions of the National U-23 One-Day tournament, defeating Gujarat in the final by 64 runs.

All cricket is currently on hold due to the coronavirus pandemic which has brought the world to a standstill.

The CAB also said that it will wait and watch if there are further guidelines from the West Bengal government or the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) after the cricket board said it will coordinate with state associations to resume practice at a local level in the fourth phase of the lockdown.

As per the Ministry of Home Affairs guidelines issued on Sunday, stadiums will be opened but no spectators will be allowed in the lockdown extended till May 31.

In a statement late on Sunday night, BCCI said while it does not plan to organise training camps at present for its contracted players, it will coordinate with state associations to resume practice at a local level.

During the meeting, it was also decided that all pending dues of scorers, umpires and observers relating to the CAB matches held so far would be released. CAB also decided to release the due payments to the clubs.
