After getting slapped for 7 times, got the real shot of Thappad, says Taapsee Pannu.

Bollywood and Tollywood actress Taapsee Pannu who choose very diverse roles and films, has come out with her new film, ‘Thappad’. The actress is very particular about giving shots in 2 or 3 retakes. But in the movie ‘Thappad’ the actress was being slapped for 7 times to get the right shot. It was due to the actor Pavail, (starring opposite Taapsee). He was so nervous and scared that it took him 2 days to prepare mentally to slap Taapsee.

When asked how does the poster of ‘Thappad’ looks so natural, on this Taapsee said,” Thanks for the complement. There are many people including my sister had the same questions in their minds. She too asked me how many times I was being slapped in this film. Actually, this shot is from a proper poster shoot we had. I have just tried to give natural expression. But I must say that 7 times I was being slapped on my face to get the correct shot. In the movie it's only one, but Pavail was so nervous that we completed the shot in 7 retakes. 

I think, in my whole film I had not given so many retakes. it was only for this shot I had to give so many retakes. We were very particular to get it right. Because it was a very important shot and we cannot cheat on it. Anubhav (director) first only told me that the slapping shot has to be very precise. Because when people will see on 60 mm, it should look magnificent. But Pavail was so scared, that it took him 2 days to prepare himself mentally to slap me. In fact, he was telling, me to slap him so that he doesn’t feel bad in doing the shot of thappad. He was actually a way to tackle this problem. Sometimes he would hit me on my neck, sometimes on my ears. But then finally I explained him please don’t think anything, just give me a tight slap and finish it off, she added."

‘Thappad’ is a drama film,directed and co-produced with Bhushan Kumarby Anubhav Sinha. The film stars Taapsee Pannu and Pavail Gulati. It is scheduled to release on 28 February 2020.
