IndiGo moves HC against directive to shift some flights out of T1 of IGIA

New Delhi, Nov 14 (IANS) Budget carrier IndiGo has filed a writ petition along with an interim application for stay in Delhi High Court challenging Delhi International Airport Limited's (DIAL) directive to it to shift a part of its operations from Terminal 1 (T1) to Terminal 2 (T2) of IGI airport here.

According to a document reviewed by IANS, the petition has been filed by IndiGo and Enakshi Jha, a shareholder of IndiGo, with the respondents being the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA), DIAL, AAI (Airports Authority of India) and DGCA (Directorate General of Civil Aviation).

The writ petition is likely to come up for hearing on Wednesday, November 15, 2017.

On October 27, DIAL had said that it has given budget carriers SpiceJet and IndiGo a little more than two months' time to shift some of their flight operations to T2 from T1.

The shifting of flight operations to T2 is a prerequisite for the commencement of T1's expansion plan. Low cost passenger carrier GoAir commenced its flight operations out of T2 on October 29.

DIAL that time said that it has given time till early January 2018 to IndiGo and SpiceJet for shifting some of their flights from T1 to T2.

Earlier, the deadline for three low-cost carriers -- IndiGo, GoAir and SpiceJet which currently operate from T1D -- to shift some of their flight operations to T2 was October-end.

"We are in consultations with our stakeholders (SpiceJet and IndiGo) ... we have given them time to shift (some of their flights) to T2 by January 4, 2018," DIAL's Chief Executive I.P. Rao had told IANS in October.
